Tokyo stocks waver in early trading

HONG KONG (MarketWatch) — Japanese indexes wavered early Monday, with financials such as Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group advancing after U.S. stocks broadly ended higher, while some exporters such as Nintendo Co. declined. The Nikkei 225 Average rose 0.1% to 13,036.08 and the Topix index gained 0.7% to 1,256.19, reversing early declines. Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 gave up 0.7% to 4,947.10 and New Zealand’s NZX 50 index slipped 0.2% to 3,345.11, while South Korea’s Kospi inched up 0.3% to 1,576.05.
