Obama says stimulus plan expensive but necessary

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — President-elect Barack Obama made a fresh push for an economic stimulus plan on Thursday, saying a big package of spending and tax cuts will be costly but necessary to restart U.S. growth. Without it, he said, “a bad situation could become dramatically worse.” Speaking at George Mason University, Obama said working families would get a $1,000 tax cut and that he is aiming to invest heavily in energy and technology as well as public works projects.
